Alternative Rock Band Moves Halfway Across The World, Shares Story of Rebirth
BERLIN – TIDALWAVE announced today that they will be releasing a new EP called “1992” on 13.05.16. The record is the band’s first release since relocating to Germany from the United States last year. TIDALWAVE’s songs touch on themes of being reborn, pursuing dreams, and starting afresh.
“Our name refers to our approach to the sound experience – our music aims to crush you with a wave of emotion” said Dean, vocalist and guitarist of TIDALWAVE. It hasn’t been an easy journey for the French-born Dean. The band, which originated in the UK, enjoyed a short stint as a 2-piece guitar/drums set-up in the US “because we couldn’t find anybody to play with”, before relocating to Germany. “Coming to Berlin really pushed me to take this musical direction with the theme of being reborn. It was a chance for me to start over”.
Embracing the DIY spirit of Berlin, the EP was recorded at home in Dean’s kitchen. The tracks were then sent for mixing to US producer Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me), who worked on the band’s first EP. Dean was excited to work with King again, saying, “It’s crazy to think you can now have someone 4,000 miles away mixing your record. But he did a great job on our first EP, so we didn’t have to think twice about it.”
TIDALWAVE’s line-up is completed by Sam on bass and Marcus on drums. The band is known for having a sound similar to Silverchair and Deftones. They have been featured on radios and unsigned band spotlights all over the world, touring internationally and supporting acts such as California's Black Map and Roadrunner Records' Wild Throne.
